It is worth knowing your skin type so that you can give your skin the care it deserves. You can find your skin type in this guide.
Your skin type describes the way your skin is generally. You may also suffer from skin issues that have nothing to do with your skin type – this is referred to as your skin condition, and it can vary depending on the season, the food you eat, your cycle, as well as any products you use or dryness caused by a lack of moisture.
The various skin types are:
- DRY
- NORMAL
- IMPURE/ACNE-PRONE
- PIGMENTED
- MATURE SKIN

With dry skin, you may find that your skin feels too tight. It looks dull and flaky and may have a slightly crepey surface. Your pores are small, almost invisible, and the skin may redden more easily or have red (pimple-like) spots between the nostrils and the mouth, as the barrier is weakened when dry. Small white spots (milia) may be visible near the eye areas and cheeks, and eczema may also worsen.
This may be due to improper skincare and skincare routines. Wind, weather and city pollution can also have a major impact.

Your skin is in balance. Sometimes you may have an oily T-zone, which stretches from the forehead down over the nose and chin. The pores are slightly open in the centre of the forehead, on the nose and on the chin. You may experience some blackheads, typically on the nose, but they can also appear on the chin and forehead. A single pimple may occur from time to time – perhaps due to hormones or the effects of what you have eaten or drunk.
Here you have the opportunity to really test what best suits your skin. You need to maintain your skin and keep it healthy, and ideally, you should also strengthen it. The skin needs moisturizing care to increase the formation of barriers, so that it is resilient and unaffected by external factors such as wind and weather, alcohol or an unhealthy lifestyle.

This skin is oily and shiny. Pores are large and open and there may be blackheads on the forehead, nose, chin and cheeks. The skin may have small dents containing sebum (oil), and pimples may appear, which may be both yellow or red. The skin may feel sensitive in the areas where there are outbreaks and scars may be present in the form of redness or dark spots.
This can be hereditary and hormonally conditioned or caused by incorrect skincare and poor routines, including shaving habits. Food and drink can also affect the skin, as can sports and exercise. Air pollution/changes can also aggravate the skin, whereas summer and sun might alleviate the condition.

This skin has dark spots or dark areas that become more prominent in the spring and summer period and may almost disappear over the winter.
As we get older, they no longer disappear over the winter months, and then they are also called liver spots.
Pigmentation can be damage from the sun's UV rays. The younger we are, the easier it is to treat pigmentation with the right skincare products. Seeking shade and wearing a sun hat and sunscreen can also alleviate and prevent pigmentation from occurring.
Pigmentation may also be caused by hormonal changes, such as those caused by stress, medication, birth control pills, IUDs, and pregnancy, and in these cases can only be remedied by removing what is causing the pigmentation.

This skin is characterised by wrinkles and lines, and the skin becomes looser and loses its elasticity. It looks dull or grey, and pigmentation occurs in the form of brown spots/areas. You may also experience that the skin loses its colour. This is visible as white spots, because here the skin can no longer form pigment.
The skin may feel dry and difficult to hydrate because it lacks sebum. Blood vessels are clearly visible on the cheeks. This may be due to lifestyle, smoking, lack of skincare or too much sunbathing.
