Skin type vs. skin condition
Your skin type describes the type of skin that you have permanently.
Your skin condition refers to changes you notice in your skin in the summer/winter that stem from poor diet, lack of sufficient fluids, use of the wrong products, too little sleep, too much stress, and many other factors.
That’s why it makes good sense to have a variety of products to care for your skin. Serum is a great supplement to your daily skincare as it’s really easy to dose and you can combine several serums in your skincare routine. Read more about this in our serum guide.

Sebum plugs are a kind of blackhead. They are often seen as small spots formed under the skin when dead skin cells, sebum and bacteria clog sebaceous glands. Sebum plugs are usually found on the face, arms and back, but they can also appear elsewhere on the body. Hormones can control sebum production, which is why certain age groups often struggle most with sebum plugs.
We recommend daily cleansing and offer 2 types of Cleansing Foam – choose the one that suits your skin type.
We also recommend exfoliating to treat sebum plugs. Chemical peels are the most gentle, and scrubs are a quick and effective way of cleansing, if your skin can tolerate them. You should do this 1-2 times a week. We also recommend our deep-cleansing and exfoliating masks. These can be used once a week.
Do not exfoliate sebum plugs close to the eyes – we recommend that you go to a beautician to treat those. To ward off sebum plugs, we recommend daily cleansing. This will keep your skin healthy and avoid clogged pores.
Products recommended for your skin condition
Impure skin can occur after using pore-clogging skin and hair care products.
Acne, which can be both genetic and hormonal, can be a major nuisance. If you have acne, we recommend that you consult your doctor, as acne is very difficult to get rid of on your own. If you have impure skin/pimples and breakouts, you must take active steps to reduce your discomfort. Keep your skin clean.
Cleanse the skin every morning and evening so that the skin is free of clogging caused by sweat, dead skin cells, excess sebum and bacteria.
Chemical peeling and exfoliation of the skin
Your skin needs to be able to breathe, so you should cleanse dead skin cells away. Exfoliate with a mild exfoliator at least once or twice a week.
Apply a BHA serum daily.
Apply an exfoliating mask once a week.
Do not let the skin dry out
Even if your skin feels oily, it still needs added moisture and care. Feel free to use a serum, mist, or even a cream so that the skin does not overproduce sebum.
If your skin feels dry and tight, we recommend that you apply one of our moisturisers, but take care not to give your skin more moisture than it needs. After a scrub your skin will start to produce more sebum, so it is important to give your skin the right amount of moisture and care so that it can calm down.
Last but not least:
Keep your hands and nails away from your skin. The more you scratch or pick at your impurities, the more you aggravate your outbreaks.
It can be very tempting to try to squeeze blackheads and pimples out, but this can aggravate the problem and should only be attempted if you make sure that both the instruments you use and your hands are sterile. If the problem worsens, it is worth visiting a facial specialist for a deep-pore-cleansing facial.
Remember to always keep your pillow clean. When you use hair wax or gel and don’t cleanse your skin, then your skin will quickly be covered in everything that your pillowcase is covered in. So we recommend that you change pillowcases every week.

Unlike impure skin, oily skin is characterised by glistening skin without the same number of pimples and blackheads. Oily skin occurs when the skin’s sebaceous glands produce too much sebum. Oily skin can occur as a result of a hormonal imbalance, an unhealthy lifestyle or other external factors. Oily skin often has enlarged pores. Excessive cleansing can exacerbate the problem, as the skin becomes irritated and produces even more sebum. The T-zone is an area above the eyes and over the bridge of the nose where the skin may be oily.
Be sure to keep your skin clean
As impure skin often comes from clogged pores, we recommend that you use a peeling serum (2% BHA Serum and 6,5% AHA Serum) that helps loosen the top layer of skin, which when clogged prevents your skin from breathing and sweating, 2-4 times a week. We recommend that you complete your skincare routine with one of our moisturisers to protect and care for your skin.

If your skin reacts with irritation, redness, heat, itching and burning, and you often have issues when trying new skincare products, then you probably have a delicate, sensitive and reactive skin condition. Your skin may feel dry, oily or normal, and you may tend to have rashes and allergies. Your skin needs no further exposure to irritants, but you still need to take care of it based on the challenges you experience.
Keep an eye out for when irritation occurs. Irritation can come from using new products, perfumes or ingredients that are too active for your skin.
We recommend products that moisturize and gently nourish the skin to strengthen it without irritation or discomfort.

This type exists in several stages. The skin flares up over the cheeks and the nose may appear almost purple.
Some have slightly flushed cheeks, while others may have pimple-like outbreaks. The nose may look like what is known as a strawberry tip, and the skin burns, stings and feels sensitive. Wine, alcohol, spicy food, heat, sun as well as incorrect skincare and poor routines can all aggravate the condition.
We have a skincare range recommended especially for rosacea. We recommend "Less is more" – mild skincare, so that the skin is hydrated and gets the right lipids, but with as little irritation as possible.
Your beautician can help you get started with the right skincare that will best help your skin. You need to be aware of the factors that can aggravate your rosacea, as these are often external.

During menopause you may experience a sudden appearance of cyst-like pimples that take up to 5 weeks to disappear. While they don’t usually turn yellow, they are very sensitive and typically near the chin/jaw area. The skin may become significantly drier or more flushed, and it responds more quickly to touch, heat and sun.
Wrinkles and lines become more defined, the skin may become thinner, and the blood vessels on the cheeks are clearly visible.
You may experience an occurrence of fine hair and small strands of dark hair. This is due to our hormones – the level of the female hormone oestrogen drops.
Incorrect skincare and poor routines aggravate the condition.

The difference between a dry skin type and a dehydrated skin condition is that a dry skin type is the skin type you always have, while a dehydrated skin condition can occur in all skin types.
If your skin feels tight or rough and you have dry spots, then your skin is dehydrated and needs extra moisture. Dehydrated skin can cause itching.
Moisture is essential for maintaining healthy skin
Moisture is a very basic component of the skin and often part of the solution for maintaining beautiful and functional skin. The consequences of reduced moisture in the skin are numerous and include dry and dehydrated skin, which suffers from a less effective barrier and thus increased risk of infection. Dry and dehydrated skin also increases the risk of allergies, and skin healing is impaired when there is a lack of moisture.
Many skin problems are related to lack of moisture. Older skin is also characterised by lower moisture levels.
Wrinkles and lines appear more defined when the skin is dehydrated.
